Class Day
We had a good 1st class day today. We meet 2 times a month. This was the forst for this year. I am teaching scrapbooking for highschoolers. I was very impressed when 2 boys wanted to join our class. It was not for the girls but they wanted to know how to do it. Also they needed an art credit and this sounded interesting. We completed a whole page before we left. It was great working with the teens. I can't wait for the next class!!! It was an interesting social environment. It makes me wonder what some of these "christian" kids are being taught at home. Or are they being taught anything??? The girls are chasing after the boys. Thank goodness some of these boys have their heads together and don't want any part of it!!! It was bad in public school but this is pretty bad too. I just pray for these girls that think they NEED a boy to make them happy. I am very proud of my daughter for not participating in this. Unfortunately these were her so called friends.

Interesting Look at Things!
I was having conversation with a child that I know from the public school here. She was asking me y my daughter isn't going to the school anymore. I told her that we decided to homeschool her. She doesn't understand several of our reasonings but that doesnt matter because they are our reasons and only God has to understand. But we later got on the subject of what my daughter wants to do with her life. Shannon (my daughter) has a very clear picture what she wants to do with her life. She knows what she wants to do and she knows what her back up plan profession is going to be. Shannon works very hard at getting things done so she can achieve both of these goals. This little girl who I was speaking with could not understand y my daughter wanted to grow up so fast. Or how she could know what she wants out of life at such an early age. Well I kindly told her that most of my children have prayed long and hard that God reveal to them what they're gifts are. They have also asked God for direction in career choices in their lives. Some folks just don't understand that God gives it all to us. I just was thinking of how true a lot of my daughters public school friends have the same feeling and attitude towards these things. I thank God every day that he has blessed me with some awesome kids!!!!!!!!!

Just Thinking
OK my daughter has already started her schoolwork on her own. She has completed 2 workbooks for each subject so far. My thinking is do I now set a deadline for her to get things done or do I just let her keep going? I am very proud of her for taking the initiative and doing it on her own without Mom telling her to do it. I just don't want her to get lazy and fall behind. I think with her moving on her own I will probably set broad time lines for her to get things done. I will have to push her into starting her foreign language though since it is on the computer. Does anyone have a good calligraphy program? She is so wanting to do this as an art.

Intro
Hi! I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 1. My two oldest are boys and they are 21 and 19. Both have graduated from public school. My 21 yr. is married and has a 1 yr. old son. My 19 yr. old has finished his first year of college and is enlisting in the Army to leave sometime in January of 2010. My other child is my daughter 14 yr. old. We have been homeschooling now for 1 yr. The public school system that educated my sons was not benefitting my daughter and the moral issues they are having was not what I wanted for my daughter to deal with. We are loving homeschooling very much. We have joined a homeschooling group in our area that is WONDERFUL. We are using ACE curriculum and my daughter is loving it. She is a self-motivator. I will be talking about our trials and tribulations dealing with homeschooling and our ps community.
